19th Century Drop Painting

Northwest Dance Theatre commissioned a handful of incredibly skilled scenic artists to hand paint a backdrop in the traditional 19th century style, for their production of The Nutcracker. George Fox’s Woodmar acted as the paint shop for this project. Along with painting, Emma was the main source of documentation for the process. She took photos after each hour of work and wrote up a summary at the end of each day.
